A senior associate with deep regional experience in corporate law, project finance, and public-private partnerships, advising on high-value transactions across the infrastructure, energy, retail, and mining sectors in Pakistan and the Middle East.

Shehreyar Khan is a senior associate in the firm's corporate and commercial practice. He holds an LLB degree and LLM in corporate and commercial law from the University of London and has worked in top-ranked Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners regional law firms.

Shehreyar has experience in transaction advisory, project financing, public-private partnerships, and mergers and acquisitions, alongside general corporate and commercial advisory.

His experience in the area of project finance and public-private partnerships includes advising financiers, sponsors, and public sector entities in relation to structuring, procuring, negotiating, developing, and financing concession-based projects and PPPs. This advice has been provided across a range of industries and sectors, such as the renewables and power sector, municipal service delivery, transport, highways, and the water sector, among others.

Prior to entering into transactional and corporate practice, Shehreyar started off his career as a litigator, focusing primarily on trial and appellate litigation, and he has experience representing client across a range of disputes.

Shehreyar has acted on a variety transactions and projects in Oman. These include advising Iv3 Aqua Corporation on the acquisition and debt restructuring of Qurayyat Desalination SAOC, a 200,000 m3/day desalination facility in Oman. This involved conducting due diligence on the project company and renegotiating project and financing agreements, obtaining regulatory approvals, including from the Authority for Public Services Regulation, negotiating the share purchase agreement for 100% of the equity, and managing the release and re-creation of various security interests.

In addition, he has advised the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology of Oman (MTCIT) as part of an advisory consortium in respect of the development, on PPP basis, of a vehicle weighing, tracking and certification system in Oman. He has also advised MTCIT in respect of the development, on a PPP basis, of a national ports community system in Oman. Recently, he advised a UAE-based hypermarket company in respect of its acquisition by one of Saudi Arabia's largest grocery retail brands. He also advised on the sale of an Omani retail chain to a UAE-based buyer.

Shehreyar has substantial regional experience. This includes advising on the establishment of three 50 MW solar power plants in Pakistan, as well as the construction of the Sialkot Sambrial-Kharian Motorway (69 KIM), the Swat Motorway Phase-ll (80 KM), the Mauripur Expressway, and the conversion of the Karachi-Hyderabad Superhighway into a controlled access motorway, all on PPP-basis. He also acted for the financial advisors to the Privatization Commission of Pakistan for the privatization of Pakistan Steel Mills Corporation and advised on the merger of two major companies in the Pakistan securities brokerage sector. He advised National Bank of Pakistan on a PKR 65 billion (approximately USD 228 million) term finance facility for financing the acquisition of an equity stake in the Reko Diq Project, a large-scale mining project in Pakistan.
