An associate with cross-jurisdictional expertise in corporate and commercial law, specializing in regulatory compliance, entity formation, and oil and gas transactions in Oman, with a strong background in IP, employment, and real estate law.

Ms Dunya is an associate at the firm. She graduated with an LL.B (Hons) in 2014 and was called to the bar in Sri Lanka in 2017. Prior to joining the firm Ms Dunya worked at a top-tier law firm in Colombo, Sri Lanka where she mainly focused on intellectual property, real estate and employment matters.

At the firm, she focuses on non-contentious corporate and commercial matters, including but not limited to, document review, due diligence, corporate compliance, drafting and legal research.

Her practice entails the establishment of local corporate entities, including commercial representative offices, branches, limited liability companies and closed and public joint stock companies. She assists corporate clients in transactions such as share transfers, amendments to their constitutional documents, conversion of the type of entities, change of authorized signatories, increase of share capital, mergers and review of contracts and corporate documents. Her work also regularly involves liaising with government authorities. She advises clients on laws and the regulatory framework for employment, consumer protection, enforcement of contracts and data protection in Oman.

She routinely delivers comprehensive legal services to Special Oil Field Services LLC, one of Oman's most established and reputable local service providers to the energy sector. Her expertise spans a wide range of areas, including corporate, commercial, government tenders, real estate, anti-bribery and corruption, agency/distribution and employment law, as well as advisory services, advising them on a mix of legal, commercial and risk matters.

She has experience of working in transactions in the Omani oil and gas sector. She is familiar with the new standard form of Omani Exploration and Production Sharing Agreements (EPSA) and Joint Operating Agreements (JOA) and other ancillary documents used in such transactions. She has experience of advising on oil and gas deals and reviewing their transaction documents. She is also familiar with issues pertaining to transfer and assignment of working interests in Omani oil and gas concessions.

She was part of the team that acted for PJSC Lukoil with respect to its due diligence and bid to acquire a participating interest in joint operations of Blocks 60 and 48. She also remained seconded to Maha Energy (Oman) Limited, the concession holder for Block 70, for several months, where she gained experience of working closely with their various departments on variety of commercial and legal matters.
